Who is Government Strategies
After practicing law at a Portland firm, Kim founded Government Strategies in 2006 to to focus her practice on Government Affairs. Kim has a passion and deep respect for our system of government. It is this respect that informs her approach to advocacy and government relations. Too often the public views lobbying and government relations as the exercise of improper influence. This simply is not the case in Maine.
To be an effective advocate (AKA lobbyist) requires providing accurate information along with client perspectives to elected officials and their staffs. Elected officials appreciate understanding various points of view and how policy decisions impact constituents in order to make informed decisions. My effectiveness hinges on my reputation for conducting myself with integrity and providing honest information in a nonconfrontational way. That is what policymakers want to listen to.
Kim received her law degree from the University of Maine School of Law, magna cum laude, in 2004. While in law school she served as an editor of the Maine Law Review and received a Faculty Significant Achievement Award upon graduation. She has a Master’s Degree in Environmental Science and Policy from the University of Wisconsin—Green Bay. Kim earned a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from Unity College in 1993.
“She has been a tremendous asset to our public policy work and has become a valued member of our team..”
